How to remove yourself from Whitepages
Whitepages has an automated opt-out tool that removes your listing, but it asks you for a phone number. If you would rather not give one, Whitepages offers an online form or email route instead. Whitepages says you do not need an account or a purchase.
Go to Whitepages' official opt-out tool (opens the broker's own site)
Quick facts
- Cost
- Free to do yourself
- Expected time
- Whitepages' terms say it endeavors to make suppression changes within 72 hours of receiving the request. For California CCPA opt-out requests it says up to 15 days, often faster. Official page
- Do listings come back?
- Whitepages says that once a listing is removed, all known connected listings are also removed. It does not publish how often listings return. If you find a listing again, it tells you to submit a new request to a customer service agent. We suggest checking every few months (our suggestion, not a company figure). Official page

What Whitepages asks for
- The URL of your Whitepages listing (find your listing, copy the address from the browser) Official page
- A phone number if you use the automated tool, and agreeing to Whitepages' Terms of Service. Whitepages says the number is used only to complete the opt-out Official page
- No account and no purchase Official page
- If you use a customer service agent instead (no phone number), you may be asked for additional information to process the request Official page
Step-by-step: remove yourself from Whitepages
- Go to whitepages.com, enter your name and city/state in the people search, click the listing that is you, and copy its URL from your browser's address bar.
- Open Whitepages' opt-out tool (link below). Step 1 of 5 asks you to paste your profile URL. Paste it and click Next.
- Follow the remaining screens. Whitepages says the tool asks for a phone number to complete the request (an independent guide says the middle screens first confirm the listing details and ask for a reason). Whitepages says that using the tool also opts you out of the sale and sharing of your information and removes your listing.
- Prefer not to give a phone number or agree to the Terms of Service? Whitepages says to submit a request to a customer service agent instead, using either its online form or an email to [email protected]. Include your listing URL. Whitepages asks you to allow up to two business days for a reply.
- Check back after a few days by searching your name again in a private window. If you find your listing, or another listing that is you, after opting out, Whitepages says to send that to a customer service agent using the form or email.
What this will not do
- Whitepages' terms say an opt-out only suppresses contact information shown directly through its services and cannot remove information from third-party sources such as court records, voter registration lists and property records.
- Whitepages says it does not warrant that a request will remove all of your information from its services.
- You must be the person the listing is about, or legally authorized to act for them.
If something goes wrong
Email [email protected] or use the customer service form linked from Whitepages' Consumer Privacy Rights page. Whitepages' general support lists [email protected] and 1-800-991-3077.
If you'd rather have a service do this for you
If you do not want to hand over a phone number or keep re-checking, paid removal services can handle this on a schedule. They cost money and we have not tested them.
Paid removal services such as Optery, Incogni and DeleteMe offer this. You never need to buy anything to remove your listing; the steps above are free.

How we verified this page
Last verified 2026-10-26. Broker forms change without notice. If a step no longer matches what you see, trust the broker's page and tell us.
Confirmed on the broker's own pages
- The tool URL and its 'Step 1 of 5, paste your profile URL' screen were loaded on whitepages.com/suppression-requests on 2026-10-26.
- The phone-number requirement, the no-account/no-purchase statement, the alternative routes, the 15-day CCPA timing and the 'listing found again' guidance were read on Whitepages' Consumer Privacy Rights page (last updated June 22, 2026).
- The 72-hour target and the third-party-records limits are from Whitepages' Terms of Service, Opt-Out Policy section, as returned by a search of whitepages.com.
Reported by third parties only (not confirmed by the broker)
- Independent guides describe the middle screens as: a confirmation of the listing details, a reason selector, then a phone-number step where an automated call gives you a four-digit code to key in. We could not run those later screens ourselves.
Could not verify
- The exact wording and order of screens 2-5 of the tool; only screen 1 was loaded.
- Whether the automated call or a text is used for verification (an independent guide says a voice call).
